Title:
Relational Awareness: Transforming Disconnection
Author(s):
Judith V. Jordan
Abstract:
Development of the capacity for relational awareness allows people to begin to acknowledge, explore, and transform patterns of disconnection. Temporary empathic failures can often be transformed into renewed connections. However, more ongoing failures, such as racism and sexism, lead to chronic disconnections. Awareness and understanding of relational resources and relational resilience allow individuals to maintain or restore connections.
