Relational Leadership:
It Makes All the Difference

Monday, March 5, 2007
9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
5 Continuing Education Credits
Tuition: $250
Wellesley College Club, Wellesley, MA

Relational leadership has become a new buzzword in the popular press. Books and articles exhort leaders to be more "relational," to use their emotional intelligence and social know-how to get things done. But often, too little guidance is given on how to actually implement a relational style in a world where deadlines need to be met, tough decisions need to be made, and turf battles are a fact of life. This Institute will explore what a truly relational model of leadership would look like in practice.

Using Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT) – a groundbreaking model of relational development – we will examine some of the dilemmas of being "real" at work, emphasizing specific ways that productivity and good relationships go hand-in-hand. Participants will learn how relational intelligence enhances performance, profitability, and personal well-being by allowing each of us to bring our best ideas and energy to work.

Educational Objectives

1. To explore a model of leadership based on Relational-Cultural Theory.
2. To examine how relational leadership can be practiced in different workplace settings.

Afternoon Session

Creating Real Change …
1:30 – 4:00 PM
