Wellesley's NMR Facility has a web page where you can see the current schedule and sign up for available time slots on the two spectrometers. Find the pages by choosing Campus Information, Academics, Science Center.

Go directly to YAHOO! FRANCE from the "Internet Resources for French" page. It has over 7000 French Internet sites arranged in a directory tailored for French priorities and interests. Choose Internet Research Resources, Academic Departments, French.

Annual Reviews Sociology On-line offers abstracts describing critical reviews of research literature. Articles published since 1984 are included. Look for it on the "Internet Resources for Sociology" page, which you can find by clicking on Internet Research Resources, Academic Departments.

New in the Reference Collection:

Ethnologue is a catalog of more than 6,700 languages spoken in 228 countries. Languages are searchable by name, country, or language families. Maps and geographic distributions are also available.

DocFinder includes Massachusetts Physician Profiles, a consumer protection initiative by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Board of Registration in Medicine. Search the Profiles database for a physician's education and training, disciplinary history, paid malpractice claims, etc.

Find both of the above and lots more by selecting Internet Research Resources from the Wellesley home page, and then Reference Collection.

Wellesley Association for South Asian Cultures (WASAC) just went online, as did Bates Hall, the first residence hall at Wellesley with their own web page. These can be found by selecting Campus Information, Schedules, Student Activities Calendar, Student Organization Home Pages.

Yahoo! Internet Life 100 Most Wired College logo

Yahoo! Internet Life magazine named Wellesley College one of America's 100 Most Wired Colleges. Wellesley is ranked 12th among liberal arts colleges and 51st overall, ahead of Harvard, Yale and Stanford. For the full story and rankings, see http://www.zdnet.com/yil/content/college/intro.html

President Diana Chapman Walsh has posted a memo which introduces the final report from the consulting organization on the College Budget Consultations, and the final report itself. These are available only to the on-campus community, and can be found by choosing Campus Information, Administration, President's Office.

College Government's web site has information about elections, ad hocs, constitutions, weekly senate minutes, etc. Follow the bouncing ball from the home page to Campus Information, to Students, to Student Organizations.

The Internet Resources pages for Africana Studies, Chinese and Education have been revised significantly--check them out! Find them by choosing Internet Research Resources, Academic Departments.

Wondering how to evaluate the sites you find on the Internet? Go to the Internet Research Resources page and click on SEARCH. At the bottom of that page there is a new link to a very comprehensive and well organized publication called The Web as a Research Tool: Evaluation Techniques.

The Spring 1997 issue of the Friends of the Library Newsletter is available on the CWIS -- in advance of print distribution. The lead article features Jay Panetta's April 9 program "Hep Cats and Philistines: Perceptions of Jazz in the 1920's." Margaret E. Hadley '97 contributed an article based on the manuscripts of the Book of Hours in the Special Collections at Clapp Library. You can find this and previous newsletters by choosing Campus Information, Academics, Library Services.

Several student organizations recently put up web pages: the Wellesley Widows a capella group, the Psychology Club, General Judiciary, Common Ground, and the Caribbean Students' Association. Your best entree to the student organizations in general is via the Student Activities home page. Find it by going to Campus Information, Schedules, Student Activities Calendar.

The Psychology Department weighs in with their home page, which includes information on student activities, the interdepartmental Cognitive Science program, faculty, majoring and minoring in Psychology, and the all-important question, Why Study Psychology? It's been a busy week, in the quiet town of Lake Waban.

The Fall 1997 class schedule, and the Spring 1997 Exam schedule are up (time to buckle down and study!). You can find these under Campus Information, Schedules.

The Reference Collection has some new entries:

In Internet Resources for Museums, we've added Museums Around the World, a mega-directory of museums listed by country, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, featuring a virtual video tour! Visit the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to women artists. From the home page, choose Internet Research Resources, Museums.

The Internet Resources for Anthropology page now includes a link to ArchNet: Ethnoarcheology and Ethnohistory, from the University of Connecticut, containing archeological and historical data on Native American groups of New England, such as Nipmuc place names, Native American Technology, and the complete text of the Constitution of the Iroquois Confederacy. Find it by choosing Internet Research Resources, Academic Departments, Anthropology.

And finally, the Internet Resources for Japanese now include an archive of Japanese fonts that are available for downloading and, at the Gateway to Japan site, information about Japanese client software capable of displaying Japanese texts. Look under Internet Research Resources, Academic Departments, Japanese.

Completely new Admission pages. The spiffy new look complements the extensive content, which includes a Campus tour; description of the Academic program; complete color brochures that can be downloaded on Athletics, Student Life, Financing Your Education, Transfers, and Continuing Education; a list of Admission Frequently-Asked-Questions (with answers!), and the ability to download an application. Look for the link to all this and more on the Campus Information page.

Wellness is the topic of a new page under Internet Research Resources, Academic Department, Physical Education Recreation and Athletics. Links to articles help with getting started, staying motivated, and selecting specific exercise and sports programs. Weight management, nutrition and stress are also covered. Try Stanford's "How to Stay Stressed" for a list of what *not* to do.

Russian Area Studies now has a set of webpages with course descriptions, history of the program, and faculty information. Check out the great background scene! You can find them by choosing Campus Info, Academics, Academic Departments.

Two new interactive forms enhance Library services; save yourself the walk! The college community can now submit Interlibrary Loan Requests for document delivery/interlibrary loan of books and photocopies of articles through the CWIS. Similarly, faculty, staff, and students can now recommend that the Library purchase items for the collection via the CWIS. From the home page, select Campus Information, Academic, Library Services. Scroll down to the list of electronic services.

The MIT Course Catalog is linked, for ease of planning cross-registration courses. Find it under Campus Info, Academics, Course Information.

The list of Faculty Publications, Exhibitions and Performances for 1995-1996 are now up. Look under Campus Information, Academics.

Internet Resources for Theatre Studies provides links to sites listing reviews, performance calendars (Cambridge, Boston, New York), college theatre groups, texts of plays. Four full-text journals/magazines are included: Playbill Online, Theatre Journal, Aisle Say, and The Journal at Theatre Central. Go to Internet Research Resources, ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT, Theatre.

The Johns Hopkins University Press "Project Muse" has recently added four more core humanities journals to its offering of full-text online. The journals added are:

The Yale Journal of Criticism

You can reach them via the Wellesley CWIS or through the WWW version of the Wellesley College Online Catalog. The path on the CWIS is to choose Internet Research Resources, then Academic Department, then English.
