What's New on the Wellesley CWIS?Spring 1999
Student Organizations by Caitlin Augusta '99 Wellesley's chapter of Amnesty international is dedicated to the cause of political freedom throughout the world and to fighting to influence governments or organizations engaged in behavior which denies individual rights. The site allows you to sign up to join Amnesty, to read about Amnesty's history, here and around the world, and to learn about Amnesty's ongoing campaigns and the individual's place in them. http://www.wellesley.edu/Activities/homepage/amnesty/aiindex.html See a piece of Wellesley history and explore the Bates Hall website. The site describes the past and present history of the dorm including some antique photographs. Other highlights of the site are the dorm traditions section which mentions Thursday night ER with the head of house and the Wonderful Women's Weekend held every spring for dorm residents. The website describes the rewards of the partnership of college students and mentally retarded individuals. In the website, you can meet the members, find out how to become a bestbuddy yourself, see photographs and a calendar of events and read about the origins of the national organization. http://www.wellesley.edu/Activities/homepage/bestbuddies/welcome.html The revised Generasians site describes Wellesley's very own Asian/Asian American magazine, and even includes the Fall 1998 issue for perusal. Tired of millennium talk? Then check out today's Hebrew date. Interested in on-campus Hillel events or in regional Hillel chapters? Then look no further. Have a peek at Mezcla's history in photographs, meet its advisor and check out such activities as the celebration of El dia de los muertos every November 1st. This website, chock full of information about Wellesley flora and fauna, supplies scads of pictures, quotes from literature and tips on spotting or identifying your favorite wildlife. Highlights of this site include descriptions of the Bosnian and Kosovo panels as well as information on the 1999 International Conference.
