Quick Fix Grants

The Educational Research & Development Committee and the Dean's Office are pleased to announce a change in distribution of Quick Fix funds. Beginning in fall 2007, Quick Fix monies will be added directly to department and program budgets. In making this change, we hope to make the grants more accessible to all faculty and to relieve the administrative burden from the staff member supporting the committee.

The total amount of money that will be available in Quick fixes is almost double the average distributed over the last several years. However, the amount per FTE is less than the full amount that faculty could receive under the old system. Departments and programs should decide how best to allocate these funds.

Note that Quick Fix grants are meant to fund unanticipated needs related to teaching, such as tickets for a new exhibit or supplies for a class exercise that the instructor learned about at a mid-semester workshop. Expenses that can be anticipated should be built into department budgets or requested in a regular curricular development grant from ER&D.

We hope that the new system will allow more faculty to take advantage of the Quick Fix program. Please address any questions to the chair of the committee, Barbara Beatty, or to Adele Wolfson.
