Guidelines for Faculty Computing Equipment

Computers for New Tenure Track Faculty

Each new tenure- track faculty member will be provided with a standard Windows or Mac laptop or desktop computer for their office computing needs at the beginning of the first year. The equipment will be connected to the College-wide network with a high speed Ethernet connection. If enhanced capabilities are needed for the faculty member's research, these should be presented to the Dean of the College at the time a new contract is negotiated, as part of a research "startup" request.

Computers for Continuing Faculty

Requests for computer replacement by continuing faculty should be directed to the Computing Help Desk, x3333.

Computers for Faculty on Non-Continuing Contracts

Computers will be assigned to faculty, based on availability as determined by IS (Information Services). Computers used by faculty who have left the College will be reassigned by IS based on prioritized needs across all academic departments.

General Policies for Faculty Computing Equipment

All computers remain the property of Wellesley College. Computers are provided for faculty to work in their offices. Equipment may not be removed from the established location without approval from the Dean of the College. Please refer to the Security Guidelines for safeguarding your information and data.

Faculty Printing Needs

To meet the printing needs of all faculty, networked laser printers are provided for each academic department or cluster of departments.
