The humble beginnings of ABSK take us back 23 years ago to the other side of the coast. ABSK was founded in 1981 in Berkeley, California, originally as a ministry for second-generation Korean-American college students. Since then, this ministry has grown to include people of all different races and backgrounds.

In 1991, Rebekah Kim JDSN (the national ABSK director) and others were convicted to expand their ministry to the east coast and founded ABSKs on many Boston-area campuses, including BC, BU, Brandeis, Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, and many graduate schools. Since then, ABSK has even expanded across the world to Seoul, Korea and Tokyo, Japan.

Amongst the small team of founding members in Boston was our beloved Wellesley ABSK director, Tammy Lynch. Through the Berkeley ABSK (now Koinonia) ministry, she committed her life to Christ and decided to follow God's calling to share the same love of God she had experienced in Berkeley. She is a half-Korean, half-Mexican-American, married to a Chinese American with an Irish last name! She recently graduated from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Counseling. Aside from that, she is known for her challenging and thought-provoking Bible Studies given every Friday night from the book of Mark. Even with this busy schedule, she's never too busy to make time for all of us and always opens her home to anyone. Through her tenacious love and God's incredible grace, Wellesley ABSK has grown and become "a home away from home" for many of us. But there's always room for one more!

So whether you are someone who is seeking to find out the truth or a Christian who wants to grow, you are more than welcome at ABSK. And remember, anyone and everyone is welcome--you don't have to be Asian or Baptist!
