Events and Social Activities

Boston

Al-Muslimat typically holds the following events during the school year: Islam Awareness Lecture Series: This event is held during the fall semester, timed to coincide with the national observance of Islam Awareness Week. Al-Muslimat sponsors various lectures, discussions and displays to promote a greater understanding of Islam throughout the Wellesley community.

Women in Islam Lecture Series: During this week, held in the spring semester, Al-Muslimat aims to educate the Wellesley community about the role and status women enjoy in Islam. Past speakers include Islamic Society of America's Vice President, Dr. Ingrid Mattson and filmmaker and Wellesley Alumna Anisa Mehdi

Social Events: Al-Muslimat holds several fun events throughout the year. In recent years these have included activities in Boston, sleepovers, dinners, retreats, hiking trips, and ice skating. Often, social events are coordinated with Muslim student associations from other nearby colleges. Al-Muslimat has also arranged for women-only Swimming Pool hours at the Keohane Sports Center.
