Awaken the Dawn {ATD}
is Wellesley's only Christian a cappella group. In 1991, a group of four women aspired to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the campus of Wellesley through word and song. Since then, the Lord has blessed this vision by expanding our audience to include not only college students, but also the homeless, senior citizens, and families everywhere.
We are
currently a group of eleven women who share the desire to glorify God with our voices. We hope to effectively share the love of Jesus Christ with the Wellesley campus and the greater Boston area through song, skit, spoken word, and community service.Our Vision
- To bring glory to God in everything we do (1 Peter 4:10-11, 2 Corinthians 4:1-2)
- To see God’s power manifest through us to work in the hearts of everyone we meet (2 Corinthians 4:10)
- To live in the life and victory that Christ died to give us (Galatians 2:20)
- To see all of God’s people spending more and more time in prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- To see Satan’s strongholds crumbling and all people set free from his grasp (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
- To see people laying down their lives for one another in the name of Jesus Christ (John 15:13)
- To expect great things through faith in prayer (Matthew 21:22)
- To pray unselfishly for others (Philippians 2:3-4)
- To see many people coming to salvation everyday (Acts 2:47, Galatians 6:9)
- To boldly proclaim the Gospel through our words and actions (Matthew 5:15-16, Joshua 1:9, 2 Timothy 1:8)
Our name is derived from Psalm 57:8-11 and 108:2-5
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.
