Welcome to the Guild of Carillonneurs!

The Wellesley College Guild of Carillonneurs promotes interest in playing and listening to the carillon among the Wellesley College community by recruiting new members to learn and eventually perform on the carillon. The Guild is a student-run organization whose members provide the trademark music of chiming bells that students, faculty, and visitors enjoy on walks around the campus.

The Wellesley carillon was installed in Galenstone Tower above Green Hall and currently houses 32 bells. The tower is 182 feet tall from the ground to the highest finial. Aside from a few years during World War II, the carillon has been performed by Wellesley students since its installation.

From the 2007-2008 Guild Constitution:
The Wellesley College Guild of Carillonneurs carries on the tradition of bell-ringing in Galenstone, which has continued since the 1930s when the carillon was first installed. The Guild of Carillonneurs is a musical performance group that teaches students to play and perform on the carillon in Galenstone Tower. Our group aims to share the music of the carillon with the Wellesley community and to do so we provide students the chance to perform concerts held between class times during the week and for special events and activities.

Upcoming Events: Spring Concert - Saturday April 5, 12:00-3:00 p.m. This annual event brings several professional carillonneurs from around New England to play our carillon. These performances not only provide an educational and inspirational experience for current student carillonneurs, but they also showcase the amazing talent of professional musicians and the beauty of carillon music to the entire Wellesley College, Wellesley town, and surrounding communities. Guests include Lee Leach, George Matthew, and Lucy Dechene.
