Thank you for visiting the Wellesley College Government website! As we enter our 106th year of student body governance, we look forward to a year of dialogue, cooperation, progress and change. The real beauty of College Government is its degree of autonomy from the administration and the College itself. Unlike other institutions where bodies of governance are simply labeled as "student government," College Government acts as an independent entity responsible for constituting and funding the 160+ student organizations, holding campus wide parties and events, promoting the Honor Code, Multiculturalism, and Non-Partisan dialogue as well as holding weekly Senate meetings to discuss, debate and vote on various pertinent issues pertaining to the student body and the college at large.
The annually elected nine members of the College Government Cabinet work to administer and implement the various functions and responsibilities of College Government by chairing various committees and holding events throughout the course of the year. This year it is our goal to welcome the new Wellesley College President, Dr. Kimberly Bottomly by allowing the student body to illustrate what they love about the College but at the same time voice what changes they believe need to be made during the course of the next few years. In addition to serving as the main connection between the student body and the administration, Cabinet also hopes to encourage students to take their own initiative in terms of developing and implementing active programs that are pertinent to issues of interest and concern. By facilitating an environment conducive to dialogue and activism, we hope to promote a year of respect and understanding amongst one another as well as the community at large. While we are "Women who will make a difference in the world," our goal for the year is to ensure that the student body is proud of the fact that we are women who are making a difference now.
