The Wellesley College Speech and Debate Society is a member of the American Parliamentary Debate Association (APDA) , an association of Colleges and Universities from across the nation whose members compete in weekend parliamentary debate tournaments. The Society encourages members to enhance their speaking and analytical skills, which are crucial skills for one's success in debate and in one's career as well. The team provides the opportunity to practice these skills in a supportive and informal environment. Currently, the debate team has approximately twenty active members. We meet once a week (Thursdays at 8:00pm in Pendleton East, room 117) to conduct business, eat, brainstorm case ideas, and sometimes hold a workshop to sharpen our skills. No experience is necessary and we are open to all Student Activity fee paying students.
