About the Glee Club

The Glee Club was founded in the fall of 1989 in response to the increased interest in singing in choral ensembles on campus. The Glee Club sings a diverse choral literature which ranges from traditional works written for women's voices to popular selections.

This year the Glee Club welcomes guest conductor Bryon Grohman as its director. Bryon has a master degree from New England Conservatory and is a tenor as well as a conductor. He has chosen an interesting variety of music for this season's concerts, including American spirituals, Japanese folk songs, settings of e.e. cummings poems, French carols, and folk based settings by Czech composer Antonin Dvorak.

Glee Club rehearsals include study of vocal technique to increase range and flexibility of the voice as well as exercises to refine musical skills. Each year the Glee Club performs on the Parent/Family Weekend concert in the fall and in the Vespers Service in December.

The Glee Club gives a full concert in the spring and also appears in special performances on and off campus. It has provided music for chapel services and has collaborated with the men's glee clubs from Harvard and Villanova Universities.

The Glee Club ranges in size from 40-60 members. As a member of the Glee Club, you will be given preference for admission into the Choir in subsequent years, should you desire it. Everyone is welcome!

 

Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00-9:30pm.
