The Wellesley Japan Club welcomes all students who are interested in Japanese language and culture. It is primarily a cultural organization. Our past activities have included origami-earring making, Japanese curry parties, and sponsoring Japanese tea/flower arranging ceremonies. Japan Table is sponsored and held once a week by the Japan Club in a dining hall -- not only is it a perfect opportunity to hone your Japanese skills, but it is also a nice way to have a chat with friends and faculty. We support the Kendo Club, a club dedicated to the martial arts of Japanese swordfighting. We also support activities of WAA (Wellesley Asian Alliance) and the Multicultural Council. We organize events that are related to Japan for the Wellesley community and Boston community. We welcome anyone who is interested in Japan or Japanese Studies and encourage get togethers with others who have the same interests.

What is the difference between the Japan Club and the Japan Corridor?
The Japan Corridor is a separate entity from the Japan Club. However, we do cosponsor events on occasion. The Japan Corridor is located on the second floor of Stone Hall. It is specifically dedicated to students currently engaged in Japanese language studies. The Japan Corridor is overseen by the Wellesley Japanese Department.

What is the different between the Japan Club and the Kendo Club?
Kendo Club is considered a part of Japan Club but other than cooperating on certain cultural events such as the Yuki Matsuri, the two clubs function separately. Please visit the Kendo subconference in the Japan Club conference on FirstClass for more information. Kendo is temporarily on hiatus for the 2007-08 school year. If you are interested in reviving kendo, contact a Japan Club e-board member!

What is the different between the Japan Club and Aiko?
Aiko is the recently established Taiko group that is a subgroup of Japan Club. The two groups cooperate on certain cultural events, but function separately. Please visit the Taiko Club subconference in the Japan Club conference on FirstClass for more information.

What is the difference between the Japan Club and the Wellesley Anime Club?
Like the Japan Corridor, the Wellesley Anime Club is also a separate entity from the Japan Club. The Japan Club occasionally cosponsors events with the Anime Club. More information on anime at Wellesley College can be sought through the Wellesley Anime Club.

How often does the Japan Club meet?
The Japan Club holds at least one general meeting per month. There are no mandatory meetings. Over the course of the semester, club members are encouraged to participate in planned cultural events and study breaks.
