Name
Wellesley Latin American Concerns


Article II
Purpose
The purpose of this organization is to raise the consciousness of the
Wellesley College community regarding the political, economic
and human rights (especially women's rights) situation of Latin
America. Wellesley Latin American Concerns seeks to provide a forum
for discussion and action to help promote an end to human
suffering and exploitation in Latin America.


Article III
Membership
Section 1. Membership Eligibility
a. Membership will be open to any student who pays the student
activity fee in addition to all members of the college community.
b. Membership selection shall not discriminate based on race, gender,
creed, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age,
or financial status. Financial aid will be made available to members
in need. The matter should be decided in confidence with the
member, the president, and the treasurer of the organization.

Article IV
Organization
Section 1. Honor Code
Wellesley Latin American Concerns will adhere to the
Wellesley College Honor Code
Section 2. Discrimination
Wellesley LAC shall not discriminate on the basis of race,
gender, creed, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age or financial
status.

Article V
Powers and Duties of the Officers
A. President: Organize events, facilitate during meetings,
oversee administrative responsibilities, and oversee the completion
of duties of the other members.
B. Vice-President: Primary function is to assist the president
in her duties, and will take over the president's responsibilities
if she is absent or unable to fulfill her duties.
C. Treasurer; In charge of finances. Disbursements are subject
to the consensus of the group.
D. Secretary: Primary functions are to take and distribute
minutes at meetings and to publicize events.
E. Outreach Coordinator: Works in conjunction with the secretary
to publicize events and encourage community involvement with
the group.

Article VI
Activities
Section 1.
Meetings
There will be at least one open publicized meeting per
semester open to all Wellesley College students
Section 2.
Events
Events such as lectures, study breaks, and films will be
advertised in Schneider and around campus.

Article VII
Quorum
Section 1. Transaction of Business
A majority of the membership must be present for transaction
of business.
Section 2.
Constitutional Business
Constitutional business will be decided by æ majority of members,
due notice given.

Article VIII
Finance
This organization will be SOFC funded and will adhere to
financial legislation. In addition to SOFC funding, our organization
will fundraise according to SOFC regulations.

Article IX
Elections
Section 1. Officer Eligibility
Any member having attended at least one previous meeting is
eligible for office.
Section 2. Regular Elections
The officers for the following year shall be elected by a
majority vote at the end of the academic year.
Section 3. Emergency Elections
Additional elections in the fall or spring may be held in
the case that offices are open.

Article X.
Adoption
Section 1. This constitution becomes valid when
A. It is adopted by a 2/3 majority quorum.
B. A copy has been signed by the head of the organization and
the Vice President of College Government and filed in the CG office.
C. A copy has been filed in the Office of the President of the
College

Article XI.
Amendments
Section 1. Adoption
Amendments are adopted by consensus of the members present, with due notice of the purpose of the meeting. Section 2. Amendments become valid when a copy of the
amended constitution has been signed by the head of the organization
and the Vice President of College Government and filed in the
CG office and in the President's Office
