Conferences that WCMUN participates in:
Chicago Model United Nations
"ChoMUN was created ten years ago by the University of Chicago’s Model UN team as “the conference we want to attend as delegates.” It was decided that no delegate at our conference should be penalized through the random assignment of a relatively inconsequential position on a committee of over 180 people. At ChoMUN, we believe we found the solution by running primarily small committees and simulating continuous crises for all four days of conference. ChoMUN’s focus is on individual attention and attention to detail. Each committee has a chair and crisis director that have been working for an entire year to provide comprehensive background guides and novel crises for the delegates. Additionally, each committee is also staffed by a complement Chicago Model United Nations team members who have made it their duty to research every aspect of the committee in preparation for conference. The result is a simulation of modern and historical events like no other." --ChoMUN X Secretary General
Columbia University Model United Nations in New York
"Held in New York City, the heart of international diplomacy, CMUNNY II promises to be both a challenging and engaging experience for both delegates and staff. Noted for its small committees with an intense level of debate, CMUNNY allows each delegate to receive personal attention from its devoted dais and crisis staff. With nine distinct committees, ranging from the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda to the Panamanian Rebel Junta, CMUNNY II will develop the interests of all delegates while simultaneously providing the forum to explore new interests." --CUMUNNY II Secretary General
Harvard National Model United Nations
"For over fifty years, HNMUN has been dedicated to experiential education through debate, diplomacy, and compromise. Through preparation for and participation in our simulation, students develop expertise in research, writing, public speaking, and the art of negotiation as they fight for the interests of countries they represent on their international interests on every conceivable topic relevant in today’s global community. Each of our directors provides a comprehansive study guide to help delegates become well-versed with their topics of debate. Other distinctive features of our conference include crisis simulations, multimedia presentations, and guest lectures by distinguished speakers both within and outside of the Harvard community. This year, we pledge to continue the innovations we have implemented in the past to provide a truly unprecedented experience for everyone involved." --HNMUN.org
University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference
"UPMUNC has long been renowned for its excellent quality of debate and diversity of committee offerings and the 2006 conference, including among others the High Commission on Refugees and Historical Ottoman Divan, will be no exception. In addition, our staff of over two hundred dedicated Penn undergraduates, amplified by the experience and participation of Penn’s own faculty, will work tirelessly to make UPMUNC XL the best yet." --UPMUNC.org
WorldMUN
"Our annual aim is to provide the world's most fun and realistic simulation of the United Nations. The formal part of WorldMUN gives our delegates a chance to explore the ideas that shape the thinking of their fellow global villagers, as a well as an opportunity to shape their own thinking as a result of these explorations. This is done in simulations of the United Nations. Such opportunities are magnified as WorldMUN is held every year in a different city of the world, giving the delegates a chance to explore the societies that have contribute to our common global culture. Our long-term aim is to spread the ideals of peace, justice, understanding and participation. These four concepts embodied in the United Nations are not ideals so much as attitudes to be cultivated. It is the sincerest hope of the organizers of WorldMUN that once a conference is co-hosted by a University that a tradition of Model United Nations will there develop and flourish. Ultimately, it is wished that WorldMUN will be an annual conference where delegates from all over the world will come - after experiencing the simulations in different regions of the world - to address the same agendas that committees at the United Nations itself are debating, in order to provide the world's youth with a means of magnifying their voices in order to be heard. " --WorldMUN 2007
Security Council Simulation at Yale
"This year's Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY) promises to be an amazing experience for all delegates. We are expanding our conference to around 600 participants from a diverse range of schools. As always, SCSY is run by a great staff of undergraduates with interests ranging from international relations to chemical engineering. Because of our excellent staff we hope to make a seamless transition to a larger conference, while providing all of our delegates with interesting yet personal committee experiences. This year the conference will simulate a wide array of national cabinets, UN committees, and regional bodies." --SCSY XXIX Secretary General
