Greetings from the President:
Welcome to Wellesley College Model United Nations!
The aim of Wellesley College Model United Nations (MUN) is to encourage student’s learning and understanding of international relations, diplomacy, and global politics. Besides hosting regular workshops which familiarize students with the procedural and background knowledge required for MUN conferences, we also assemble workshops, which help students with their public speaking and position paper writing. Additionally, we host discussions on topics of international diplomacy, as well as the current events.
Generally, we attend up to five conferences each academic year. In the past, students have won several awards reflecting the strength of our team. But whether or not you are an International Relations or Political Science major or simply share an interest in global affairs, MUN has a place for you on our team. As a Biology major, for example you could participate in a Model World Health Organization Committee and as an Economics Major you could participate in the Word Trade Organization Committee.
Additionally, MUN creates as close to a hands-on experience of international diplomacy as students can have, as delegates they are asked to engage with one another to solve international crises. This offers students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the class room to a more realistic setting.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the MUN club.
Sincerely,
Angela Altvater
