
The purpose of this section of the OMHA website is to give some basic information about some common mental illnesses that plague the women of college age. Information on obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, seasonal affective disorder and eating disorders can be found in this portion of the OMHA site. This page is NOT a substitute for professional care and treatment. This section will only discuss criteria, common symptoms and methods of treatment provided by mental health professionals.
Much of the information found in this section of the OMHA website comes from the DSM-IV.The DSM-IV is a book that contains information on criteria for the diagnosis, descriptions, treatment methods and research findings about many mental disorders common. The DSM-IV was published by the American Psychiatric Association in Washington D.C. in 1994. A copy of which can be found in the Wellesley College Library. This book is not a substitute for professional care and treatment.
