Education Committee

One of the most visible OMHA committees on campus, the Education group is responsible for spreading information about mental health, as well as sources for further learning, to the entire Wellesley community. A main project during the 2002-2003 school year was a series of monthly informational posters that were displayed throughout the campus. Each of these posters focused on a specific mental disorder and offered diagnosis criteria, any recent developments in treatment of the illness, and contact information for both OMHA and official public resources. Both factual and experiential accounts of various illnesses are used to promote understanding and lessen stigma.
A version of each of these posters can be found online, right here at the OMHA website. Please explore the Mental Health Information section of the website for more information. The posters and their online adaptations are not a subsitute for a professional diagnosis or treatment.
Currently, the Education Committee is also preparing to publish a brochure that contains further information on mental disorders as well as several personal, anonymous accounts of experiences with these illnesses from Wellesley students themselves. The brochure will be widely distributed throughout Wellesley College to further promote awareness of mental health.
