SHE FAQs: General
|
|
|
Who are the SHEs?
The SHEs are a student organization on campus devoted to providing sexual health information to the Wellesley
College student body. Students selected to be SHEs undergo extensive training in issues relating to sexual and
women's health, and serve as a resource to students on campus. SHEs put on educational programs, provide one on
one advice, and work closely with Health Services and other campus groups to ensure that accurate and useful
health information is reaching the student body.
What sorts of topics do the SHEs cover?
Though any women's health or sexual health topic is fair game, some of the more common topics for programs
include contraception, healthy relationships, sexual transmitted infections, safe sex, gynecological exams,
sexual assault, and body image. If you have a question about a topic not covered in a SHE program any given
semester, don't hesitate to contact the SHEs either by SHEmail, or on a one-on-one basis.
How can I become a SHE?
At the end of the fall semester the SHEs will post applications online on forums like Community and the course
conferences. Any student with an interest in sexual health is invited to apply! For more information about what
being a SHE involves contact any member of the group, or send us a SHEmail message!

SHE FAQs: Sexual Health Questions
Where can I get birth control on campus?
For hormonal contraceptives please contact the Wellesley College Health Services. If you feel uncomfortable doing
this alone, or would like to know more about what to expect, please contact a SHE! She'll be more than happy to
walk you through the process and explain your options to you. As for condoms and dental dams, most SHEs have these
on their doors around campus. Grab some for free, or ask a SHE and she'll arrange to get
them to you. If you have additional questions about the specific types of services available to you at Wellesley
College, please send us a SHEmail, or approach us with your questions!
Does Wellesley College offer Emergency Contraception?
Yes! Emergency contraception is available at Health Services for a 20$ fee. You'll need an appointment, so please
call ahead to schedule a time.
Do the SHEs cover LGBTQQIA sexual health issues?
Certainly. If you are an LGBTQQIA student with sexual health questions, please don't hesitate to contact the SHEs.
In addition to providing you with valuable information about safe sex, healthy relationships, etc., they can also
talk with you about other organizations on campus that address a lot of LGBTQQIA issues.
If I talk to a SHE, is it confidential?
Yes! So long as you're not an immediate threat to yourself or others, everything you discuss with the SHEs is
strictly confidential. Rest assured that SHEs will always respect your privacy.
