What is SOAC?
Welcome to the home of Student Organizations and Appointments Committee,
a sub-committee of Wellesley College Government. SOAC is headed by the
College Government Vice President and co-chaired by the Appointments
Coordinator and the Organizations Coordinator. As the committee responsible
for student representatives and student organizations on campus, SOAC is in
charge of appointing student representatives to various committees on campus
and of granting official college recognition to student organizations.
The Organizations Coordinator co-chairs SOAC. She oversees the constitution process for student organizations. In addition to her role in helping student organizations through the constitution process, she is also in charge of the annual organizations fair, the Mid-Year Review of organizations, the Spring Reactivation, and other organization-related SOAC events.
The Appointments Coordinator is another co-chair of SOAC. She is in charge of setting the dates for Student Representative applications, advertising all open Student Representative positions, overseeing the appointment process and updating the Student Representative List.
SOAC is comprised of CGVP, two coordinators, and general members. College Government senators usually make up the majority of the membership. Other students can also be members-at-large.
SOAC meets weekly, usually Monday nights after Senate.
