Funding Process

To receive funding all student organizations must submit forms at the Lectures Funding, Uniquely Compelling and Spring Budgeting deadlines. The categories used on the forms and their descriptions are listed below.

Please use the following interactive formulas provided to help you in your completion of a form. Please note that you will still need to write out the compelte formula on your SOFC application to receive full funding. Failure to follow any directions/formulas may result in funding deductions.

Building and Equipment Rental

Please list events necessitating microphone/audio-visual/etc. usage and justify why these events are necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose

Please list events necessitating custodial services and justify why these events are necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose

Cultural Event

Please justify why the cultural event is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose; for this category please list individual items and their individual costs in detail separately or the request will not be considered.


Duplicating

Please justify why materials being duplicated are necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose.


Printing/Publications

Justify why the publication must be printed in accordance with the organization's purpose and why the number of issues and copies is necessary; new organizations may only budget for one publication per semester.

Publicity

In accordance with WEED policies, we will only fund for 25 posters. The Committee does not fund for table tents or off-campus postering

Entrance Fee

Evaluated on a case by case basis; maximum of 16 members; please justify why attendance at the event and the number of attendees is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose and how it will benefit the Wellesley community.

Films

Justify why playing the film on campus is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose.

Food

Every organization may receive $25 toward the purchase of food; for any amount beyond the $25, justify why food at an event is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose, and not solely to increase attendance. List each event that you would like an exception for separately and justify each individually. SOFC will not fund food that can be found in dining halls on campus.

Membership Fees

Justify why belonging as a member to the specified organization is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose. Membership fees can not cause the organization to be a chapter of a group elsewhere. Wellesley By-Laws prohibit this.


Mixers

Justify why holding the mixer is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose. Please break down individual costs for the mixer (i.e. DJ, decorations, etc.).

Retreat

Please justify why retreat is necessary in accordance with organization's purpose and how the retreat will benefit the entire campus. If the retreat can be held on campus, funding will no be provided. Only one retreat will be funded per year and the cost is not to exceed $200.


Ritual/Cultural Observances/Objects

Please justify why item is necessary in accordance with the organization's purpose; for this category please list individual items separately (e.g. dates and names of festivals/rituals, necessary decorations, costumes and the itemized costs incurred), or the request will not be considered.


Salary/Stipend

Please justify why coach/director/etc. is necessary in accordance with organization's purpose. SOFC will not fund for more than 26 weeks or a total of 52 hours of coaching per academic year.

Transportation

Airfare: You must show proof that other flights have been considered in the form of 3 attached printouts from 3 different sources, and this is the cheapest option. When possible, flights should be reserved at least two weeks in advance. SOFC will only fund coach. If you are traveling as an organization you must list each traveling time separately and justify why it is necessary for your organization to go to each location.

Zipcar: Include Mapquest directions with mileage and include calculations below.

Taxis/Vans: Please specify why you need a certain number of taxis or vans and include the exact mileage (Mapquest type printouts help your case). The flat rate from the airport to Wellesley for taxis is $65 and for the Airporter is $35.

Uniform/Performance Attire

Please justify why uniform/attire is necessary in accordance with organization's purpose; please indicate event(s) for which uniform/attire is necessary. Also indicate whether you have such uniforms/attire from previous years and why that will not work or additional uniform/attire is necessary.
