There are a few things that nearly every acappella singer does.
We sing the background parts to songs on the radio, imitating guitar
solos with nasal murmurings along the lines of
"ner ner ner." We have developed a calculated bounce that,
when executed properly in conjunction with the rest of our group, creates a
pleasing pulsating effect with the rhythm of whatever song we're
singing. And finally, we all exercise Stalkappella.
We find each other's websites, check out pictures and soundclips. We buy CDs and go to each other's concerts. We invite each other to be guest groups and occasionally end up having sing-offs late into the night (uh, just kidding). But it's not just acappella singers who stalkappella. Anyone with the right level of interest, a good strong clicker finger and internet access may be a part of the phenomenon. Do you have a favorite acappella group of all time? Can you name all of the members of Rockappella? Do you know what BOCA, ICCA, and CARA stand for? Do you want to? Accept it. Love it. Wear it proud. Buy a t-shirt. STALKAPPELLA. |
