Fundraising

As the title of the organization suggests, Women for Caribbean Development is a group dedicated to aiding and supporting people of Caribbean descent. WCD fundraises heavily during the school year in order to stay true to its purpose. We arrange parties, a benefit dinner, and various cultural events.

Most of the funds this year (99-00) will be donated to the Lucienne Estime school in Haiti, which was chosen through our Adopt-a-School program. WCD organizes a benefit dinner especially for this purpose. The school will receive school supplies purchased by WCD such as computers, books, and maps at the end of the academic year.

WCD also raises funds for the Ralph Waldo Emerson School in Roxbury, which has a substantial West Indian population. The organization plans on presenting a gift of equipment and school supplies to the school.
