Advisory Committee
Charge
The committee will be responsible for recommending to the president priorities that should be established to incorporate concepts of sustainability into the college’s ongoing planning and budgeting processes.
The committee is encouraged, especially in its first year, to focus on one or two potential “quick victories” – sustainability projects, initiatives, or strategies that are cost effective, feasible, relatively high impact, and likely to be implemented quickly, and maintained consistently over time.
The committee will be responsible, in addition, for raising consciousness on campus about the college’s pursuit of environmentally-friendly policies and processes, and for educating students, faculty, and staff about practices they can adopt to help conserve energy and water, reduce waste, and address other high-priority environmental issues on campus.
At the end of its first year, the committee will report to the president on its efforts and experiences, and will recommend whether the committee should be continued and if so, in what form, and where within the governance structure.
