The following
is a brief list of documents that need to be completed as part
of the application process for International Students. Please
refer to the official International
Students Brochure about the application procedure to Wellesley.
The application form, all required
credentials, and an application fee of $50, drawn on a U.S. bank,
must be received no later than January 15 of the year in which
you are seeking entrance. Please note the application fee
is waived if you apply online.
The College will be unable to consider
any application that lacks the following required supporting
documents: |
| 1 |
The
Application Form. Wellesley College accepts and encourages
students to use the Common Application. Students must also complete
the Wellesley College Supplemental Form. In addition, all international
citizens and U.S. students applying from outside of the U.S.
must complete the section of the application entitled "Students
Applying from Outside the U.S." It must be completed, signed,
and returned to the Board of Admission by January 15. |
| 2 |
The Essay. The
Board of International Student Admission is interested in your
significant life experiences,
intellectual interests, goals, attitudes, and self-perceptions.
You only need to write the essay on the form entitled "Students
Applying from Outside the U.S." A separate page listing activities
and honors may be attached, when appropriate. |
| 3 |
Letters
of Recommendation. Wellesley requires three letters of recommendation:
one from the head of your school and two from academic instructors.
At least one recommendation must include an evaluation of your
proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. These
letters should be sent directly to the Board of Admission at
Wellesley. |
| 4 |
Official Transcript. An official
transcript is a certified record of the courses you have completed
and the marks you received at each marking period in all schools
attended during the previous four years. If the school system uses
a coded transcript, an explanation of the code and the marking
system should be included. If you cannot obtain a transcript, a
certified record of the courses you took, along with a progress
report, must be submitted instead. |
| 5 |
Diploma or Examination Certificates: All applicants must submit certified photocopies of all academic
diplomas and Government Examination certificates. These include
GCSE ("O" level) and "A" level certificates, and appropriate documents
from your home country (i.e., Indian S.S.C., Indian H.S.C., Kenyan
Certificate of Education, Hong Kong Certificate of Education, Malaysian
SRP, International Baccalaureate SPM, STEM, etc.). Examination
certificates cannot be substituted for the required official transcript
(item 4) or for the required standardized tests (item 6). All academic
records and examination certificates must have an official seal
or certification. |
| 6 |
Standardized Tests. Every
applicant to Wellesley must take the standardized examinations
except applicants from countries where the SAT or ACT is not
administered. It is strongly recommended that these applicants
take the TOEFL (see item 7). Wellesley requires that students
submit the SAT Reasoning Test and two Subject Tests or the ACT
