CLAPP LIBRARY
Named for Wellesley's eighth president, the Margaret
Clapp Library is the centerpiece of the College library system,
which contains over a million volumes. The entire system is fully
automated, with an online catalog that can be accessed 24 hours
a day. Wellesley is a member of the Boston
Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries, which gives students
access to libraries all over the Boston area. We have reciprocal
borrowing privileges with MIT.
A favorite place of students in the Library is the Pforzheimer
Learning and Teaching Center (PLTC). The PLTC is a frequent
destination for any student with a sleeping roommate. It is also
where all the departmental
tutors work. Departmental tutors–students handpicked
by their professors–hold drop-in hours and extended
one-on-one
time. They serve as a fabulous resource
for a student who may be having some trouble in a class. The PLTC
also helps faculty explore methods of teaching
and implementing pedagogical innovations. The PLTC also offers
workshops in time management, writing, and study tips, and it provides
services
for students with learning disabilities. |
