DAVIS MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER
The
Davis Museum and Cultural Center includes ten exhibition galleries,
a 170-seat cinema, a café, and seminar rooms. Its exhibitions
and programs are known for their innovations and fresh approach
to art. Designed by internationally recognized architect Rafael
Moneo, the museum houses the College's permanent collection of
almost
5,000 objects spanning 3,000 years of history. There is also student
gallery space. The Museum is frequented by students and off-campus
patrons, and every weekend the cinema shows movies, which are free
to the students. The building is named for its donors, Kathryn
Wasserman
Davis '28 and her husband, Shelby Davis.
The Collins
Café, located across from the
Davis Museum entrance, offers an imaginative menu. Outside
tables with umbrellas provide a favorite place for gathering for
lunch or a snack.
