Ophera Davis, Ph.DOphera Davis earned the bachelor's degree in Biology; the Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Jackson State University and the Ph.D. in Education from Saint Louis University. Dr. Davis has engaged in postdoctoral studies at Harvard in the School of Education Counseling; seminars and Teaching Institutes, and at MIT’s Research Institute. She has taught Psychology courses at Harris-Stowe State College, Saint Louis University and Bentley College. At Wellesley, professor Davis has taught Black Psychology and the Black Family. In 2006-7 she will be a visiting Assistant Professor of Africana Studies at Wellesley and will teach the Introduction to Black Psychology course and a seminar on Race Relations. Dr. Davis has recently been an invited featured speaker at the University of Wisconsin - Madison Careers Conference, U-Conn and the International Career Development Conference where she addressed the audience on providing quality career counseling in multicultural populations. Dr. Davis has also spoken in China, Ghana, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Dr. Davis has published a number of articles. Her most recent publication is in the Harvard Journal of African Studies and Public Policy. Dr. Davis serves on the Board of Dimock Health Center in Roxbury; the United Way Girls Today - Leaders Tomorrow Campaign. Professor Davis’ current research continues on career counseling in multicultural populations and women voices on Hurricane Katrina with colleagues at Tulane University.
