"Solving world problems today is all about an interdisciplinary approach, a network of partnerships, and a willingness to listen and learn."
Madeleine K. Albright '59

The Albright Institute offers an opportunity for intellectual collaboration.

A rich intellectual community is at the heart of the Wellesley experience. Here, interdisciplinary opportunities are encouraged and supported—intellectual exchange is part of our heritage. The Albright Institute represents an important and innovative opportunity to expand our intellectual community and explore exhilarating new directions.

By integrating the expertise of Wellesley faculty members with the insight of thought leaders engaged in international relations around the world, the Albright Institute will enhance the academic community of Wellesley College.

Mary Jane Durnford Lewis '59 Distinguished Visiting Professor
During the third week of Wintersession each January, Wellesley will invite a leading figure to serve as the Mary Jane Durnford Lewis '59 Distinguished Visiting Professor. The Distinguished Visiting Professor will be chosen from thought leaders among diplomats, journalists, writers, executives, artists, scientists, and public officials. She or he will engage in a concentrated, in-depth dialogue with the Albright Fellows about global issues raised by their study.

Throughout the year, the Distinguished Visiting Professor will spend additional time on campus interacting with the Wellesley College community through lectures, seminars, consultations, and informal discussions.

Bernstein Faculty Symposium
The Albright Institute will enrich the entire Wellesley College community. Led by the Distinguished Visiting Professor, the Bernstein Faculty Symposium will be open to Wellesley faculty across disciplines, as well as researchers from the Wellesley Centers for Women. Participants will examine global issues related to the professor’s expertise. It is envisioned that this professional development opportunity will inform the faculty as they develop new courses, new content, and new curricular and pedagogical innovations.
