Alumnae Database
As you embark on your lives after graduation, please remember
to let the Alumnae Association know when your address,
telephone number, or email address changes; when you earn an
advanced
degree; or even when you start a family or a new job.
If you stay in touch, we can continue to inform you about campus
activities
and special programs, send you Wellesley magazine, and
most importantly, serve you better.
Please know that the Association
works very hard to protect
all of the information you send us. We carefully monitor
the method by which the College receives alumnae data
and the policies
governing its use. Many alumnae contact us with distinct
requests regarding the management of their personal
information. We
are dedicated to respecting all of these requests.
You
may use one of three methods to update your personal
information (please be sure to include your name and
class year when calling or emailing):
Online
Community
The online community offers you a plethora of
services including:
- quick global search
- online directory
- class e-notes
- discussion boards
- job postings
- the W Network (life-experience networking)
- @alum email forwarding
- and much more.
Alumnae Associaton
Website
The Alumnae Association web site is your
doorway into many of the services and programs of the
Alumnae Association. We invite you to visit the site
often for information about upcoming events, class activities,
local area gatherings, and much more.
Local
Clubs
With over 120 organized clubs and key alumnae
contacts in the US and overseas, Wellesley keeps you connected
wherever you go. Wellesley’s extensive club network
will welcome you to your new location by plugging you into
the area’s social, cultural, and intellectual community.
Many clubs have young alumnae coordinators who plan programs
geared especially for young alumnae, often including young
alumni groups from other colleges and universities. Faculty
speakers who visit your local club engage you in Wellesley’s
distinct academic tradition. Many clubs also sponsor career
oriented programs. Over 85 percent of alumnae clubs participate
in admission work for the College, and many celebrate our
annual A Day to Make a Difference, a day that alumnae from
around the world devote to community service.
Most Wellesley
clubs offer a free one-year membership to the newest
alumnae class. To find out more about the club
nearest you, contact the Office of the Alumnae Association
at 781-283-2331, or email wclubs@alum.wellesley.edu.
Classes and Reunion
After graduation, class activities and business are
managed by your class officers. The president supervises your
class
efforts and contacts you annually to keep you up-to-date
on the College and your class. The vice president keeps you
connected
to your classmates through mini reunions and other activities.
The secretary is responsible for submitting class notes
to Wellesley magazine, which you will receive quarterly. The
treasurer
collects and administers annual dues and life memberships
for the class treasury, which finances class activities. Lastly,
the annual giving representative manages fund raising
efforts
and encourages annual gifts to the College.
Class officers
change at your reunions, which are held every five
years. You are considered a member of the class
with which you entered Wellesley; if you would like
to switch your class affiliation, please write to the
Office of
the Alumnae
Association.
The Davis Scholar class includes all alumnae
of the program. As a result, you will be grouped
with both your
contemporaries
at Wellesley and those women who have preceded and
will follow you. Davis Scholar class officers are
elected every five years.
New officers were elected in June 2006, and the next
election will be held in June 2011.
For more information
about Classes and Reunion, email
reunion@alum.wellesley.edu.
Travel Programs
Wellesley Education Expeditions are domestic and international
tours led by Wellesley faculty and alumnae. These offerings
take the intellectual resources we enjoy here on campus
and bring them to you in settings around the world. Traveling
with
alumnae offers intellectual enrichment as well as a meaningful
opportunity to reconnect with Wellesley and one another.
In addition, we invite local alumnae to join us for a
variety of regional programs and workshops related to
the area in which we are traveling. Past programs have
included special
lectures and behind-the-scenes visits, guided sightseeing
excursions, and “lunch and learn” gatherings led
by faculty members and alumnae.
For more information about travel
programs, email travelprograms@alum.wellesley.edu.
Special Programs
The Alumnae Association organizes several programs throughout
the year that honor our distinguished alumnae, offer
training sessions for volunteers, and provide academic
exploration on
campus.
The Alumnae
Achievement Award was established
to recognize the accomplishments of Wellesley graduates
and strengthen
relations between undergraduates and alumnae. It is
given annually to “alumnae
of distinction who through their achievements have
brought honor to themselves and to Wellesley College.”
Alumnae
Leadership Council is a fall training session for
volunteer leaders of the Association. Delegates
attend workshops related to their volunteer positions,
discuss common
issues that they are facing, and receive current
information about Wellesley to take back with them
into the field.
Summer Symposium is an interdisciplinary educational
program that showcases Wellesley faculty members
and explores academic subjects from a variety of
angles
and viewpoints. Symposium usually occurs immediately
before
reunion weekend.
For more information about special programs,
email specialprograms@alum.wellesley.edu.
Wellesley Magazine
Four times a year, all alumnae receive Wellesley magazine,
one of the most important means alumnae have for sharing news
with one another and keeping apprised of what is happening
at the College. The magazine contains feature articles on a
variety of topics, reviews of books by alumnae and faculty
authors, student essays, College and Alumnae Association news,
and of course, class notes. Your class secretary submits a
column of class news to the magazine in September, December,
March, and May. She counts on you to supply her with information
about your post College experience: jobs, academic pursuits,
social concerns, and other life changes. Please send her news
by August 15, November 15, February 15, and April 15 of each
year. You may also submit photographs containing two or more
alumnae for publication.
Alumnae Admission Representatives
The purpose of the Alumnae Admission Representative (AAR) program
is to create a network of dedicated alumnae to help the
Admission Office recruit the most talented and diverse students
for Wellesley.
AARs expand the College’s reach and often provide personal
contact that could not exist without the program.
As a
recent alumna, your knowledge of Wellesley is invaluable!
If you are interested in interviewing prospective students
or representing Wellesley at events such as college
fairs
and prospective student gatherings, please contact
the Office of
Admission at 781-283-2270.
Center for Work and Service
The Center for Work and Service is a resource throughout
every stage of your life’s work. Whether you are looking
for your first job, making a career transition, or considering
graduate school, the CWS can help you. The CWS offers
comprehensive services to alumnae, including one-on-one
career
counseling
(in person or by phone), club career events throughout
the country, and a vast electronic resource in our web
site.
The web site allows you to access
information on the
job search process, graduate school, community service,
the CWS Library, and more. You can view the CWS calendars,
explore
over 100 links to related web sites, and even send
brief questions to the CWS staff through the “Ask
the Counselor ” link.
CLOE
(Career and Life Online Exploration) contains the access information and
passwords for additional
databases and
resources the CWS contracts with to assist in your
career exploration. Another
outstanding resource is the Wellesley
Network (W Network), a database of over 30,000 Wellesley alumnae.
Alumnae profiles are sorted by life experience rather
than occupation,
to include not only career information, but also
volunteer work, hobbies, areas of expertise, professional
memberships, services offered, and a variety of affiliations.
In addition, alumnae can indicate their interest
in discussing
a variety
of topics, such as caring for aging parents, women’s
health issues, or re-entering the workforce.
To schedule
a counseling appointment or obtain more information
about the CWS resources and services
that are available to
you, please call the main number at 781-283-2352.

the area, you might want to consider becoming a member of
the Wellesley College Club. The young alumnae annual
membership is $65 for for the first five years after
graduation.

alumnae may join the Keohane Sports Center at special rates:
$100 for a year, $60 for half a year,

Short Term Medical Plan: As a recent
graduate, you may lack health insurance benefits. The
Alumnae Association has contracted
with Fortis Insurance
Company to provide a short term medical insurance
plan to all alumnae. Available in many (but not
all) states,
TempoCare provides protection for 30 to 185 days.
It’s easy to
enroll, and TempoCare offers coverage similar to
that of most group policies. Premiums can be
paid by check, MasterCard,
or VISA. A foreign travel insurance plan is also
available. If you wish to obtain current information
on availability
or
have other questions about either plan, please call
Susan Grimaldi, short term medical specialist

Company,
at 413-525-8755 or 800-820-8463. Student's Aid Society
Entirely autonomous and legally separate from both the
College and the Alumnae Association, the Wellesley Students’ Aid
Society, Inc., is a corporation run by alumnae and supported
by their gifts of money and clothing. It supplements the College’s
financial aid loan and grant programs, makes short term emergency
loans to Wellesley students in need, and supports students
in a variety of other ways. Do you have any extra clothes cluttering
up your home? Students’ Aid will gladly see that they
are distributed to students.
