Class Notes Spring 2008by Dorothy Jones-Davis, 1998 Class Secretary As I sit and write this, I can hardly believe that our 10 year reunion is nearly here! I can’t wait to see each of your beautiful faces and reconnect in person. Until then some class news…
Joanna Arch married David Jacob Andorsky (Harvard ’97) on March 18, 2007, at Sephardic Temple in Los Angeles. Joanna is currently in a Ph.D. program at UCLA, working in a clinical psychology internship at the Veteran’s Hospital in Los Angeles, and David is completely a postdoctoral internship in Hematology/Oncology at UCLA. Nora Culver married Tim Naylor (Bates '96) on September 22, 2007 at her parents' house overlooking the ocean in Woodside, California. Katharine Rogers ('98) was in attendance as a bridesmaid. Nora and Tim currently live in Los Gatos, CA., where Nora is an attorney specializing in employment law at DLA Piper in Palo Alto.
As this quarter’s column is a bit slim in the news area, I want to make two class announcements. First, I wanted to announce that we have a new website! Classmate Janet Si-Ming Lee has done an absolutely amazing job on redesigning our site, and I cannot thank her enough. It looks beautiful! If you haven’t seen it already, log into the alumnae website, and head over to the “Classes” tab to find our website. On our page, you can now easily access information about our class, link to e-notes, pay class dues, buy an item for fundraising, check out the Record Book, or join our Class email list. Second, in the spirit of Wellesley, I wanted to announce something new that our class is doing for reunion this year. We are starting a new tradition, and we borrow from the Spanish tradition of the Capia to do so. Classmate Liany Arroyo and her mother have designed beautiful adorned Capias, a symbol that is traditionally pinned (similar to a corsage) and bears the name and date of the event it is commemorating, as our reunion insignia, the item the class wears at the Class Parade to symbolize our class unity. However, as Wellesley women who make a difference, our Capias will not only commemorate our 10 year College Reunion, but also help to support some of our classmates' registration fees to attend. Five dollars of each ten dollar insignia purchase will go into the Purple Promise fund. This fund defines our class as sisters forever, and represents our promise that we'll continue to make a difference in the lives of others. I truly hope that this new tradition will become longstanding and continue to allow us to join together, regardless of our means, at each of our reunions. Finally, although it will definitely be a bittersweet event as I will be giving up my beloved post as your Class Secretary, I look forward to seeing you in June. It has been a wonderful five years, and I look forward to serving you in other ways in the future. Safe journeys to reunion, and as always, keep in touch!
