Spring Event

Please join us for lunch and a gift-wrapping event to prepare care packages for current Wellesley students from Indiana.

Date: Saturday, May 6, 2006
Time: 1:15 p.m.
Place: Oh Yumm Bistro, 5615 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis
RSVP: Carolyn Bosserman, or (317) 844-5328.

Items to bring: post-it notes, mechanical pencils, erasers, packets of coffee, tea, lemonade or hot chocolate, microwave popcorn, gum, chocolate, or stationery for our encouraging notes. Let Carolyn know what you intend to bring so we have a good variety. When you send your reply I will be able to tell you how many packages we are making (still determining that number!)

Fall Event

This past winter, club member Suzanne Fong '74 offered to host a club gathering at her home on the Butler University campus at some future date. If you would like to help organize a gathering in conjunction with a Butler event such as a ballet, play, concert, or lecture (see www.Butler.edu), please contact Suzanne or Carolyn Bosserman.

Club Dues

The local Wellesley Alumnae Clubs exist for the benefit of the local alumnae and are supported by local donations. Our Club relies primarily on annual dues to keep our club active, informed, and involved. Your annual dues are used to finance our annual contribution to the College and to fund Book Awards, club events, and club mailings. Our gift to the college supports both the Frances Hershey Moore Faculty Salary Advancement Fund and the Indianapolis Wellesley Club Scholarship Fund.

Please send your 2005-06 dues of $20 (payable to the Wellesley College Fund) to:
Nancy Stone Dickinson '55
5173 N. Kenwood Avenue
Indianapolis, IN 46208

Please note that if you are a "young alumna" from the classes of 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005, your dues are only $10.00.

Book Awards

Thanks to Carolyn Murphy for coordinating the book award program again this year. This spring she has delivered books to University High School, Carmel High School, Lawrence North, and Park Tudor School. She has also contacted Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, which gives its awards in the fall.

Club Officers

For the 2005/2006 year, our board consists of three members:

President: Carolyn Whitney Bosserman '81
Treasurer: Nancy Stone Dickinson '55
Alumnae Admissions Representative: Carolyn Saxer Murphy '90

All three officers have served for more than six years, and would appreciate some help. We also need a Secretary and a Vice President of Programming (VPP). Without them, your President must assume three roles. The secretary sends out a few newsletters a year and circulates a computer-generated club roster every few years (that the College provides). The VPP assists the board by planning occasional programs and publicizing them in the newsletters. Here are some other ways you can contribute to our club:

* Contact a Club Officer with ideas for activities, events, or communication
* Serve as an informal advisor to the officers, providing guidance and/or suggestions on activities, events, etc.
* Host an event or serve on a committee to plan an event
* Offer to make telephone calls to follow up on invites, prospective students, etc.
* Provide items for student care packages

Please contact any board member to volunteer.
