Winter 2005 Newsletter
With many thanks to Club President Rose
Rubin for organizing
and to Club Treasurer Judy Korones for hosting, the Memphis
Wellesley Club had its first meeting in quite a while on November
3. Attendance was excellent with alumnae representation from
five decades! Alfie Daniels, from the College Admissions Office,
gave us an update on the College and its recruiting efforts,
as well as her experiences recruiting in Memphis.
Our next meeting is on January 15th, 2006
at 4 p.m. Carol Stowell has graciously offered to host
the meeting. Please let Carol know whether you will
be joining us;
you can e-mail her
to let her know you are coming and to get directions
to her house. We will also invite current students
from the Memphis area. Our own alum, Yvonne Madlock,
Director of the Memphis-Shelby County
Health Department, has achieved an incredible record
of developing and promoting health programs in our
community, and she will
speak to us briefly about her experiences.
Chloee Poag has been very generous in supporting the Wellesley
Book Awards program in numerous Memphis high schools for several
years. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution
for this tangible annual recruiting tool and award that recognizes
outstanding young women students in Memphis.
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again. And
special thanks to Mary Horrigan for doing our #1 newsletter.
If you have not already paid Club dues for the year ($15),
please use the enclosed form. We now have a not-for-profit
checking account at AmSouth Bank so your dues provide a tax
deduction and support for recruiting and Club mailings, etc.

Dues for the year (Aug
05 – Jul
06) are $15.
If you wish to support Wellesley Book Awards in local high
schools, then an additional $15 per book would be welcome.
