We are an independent org supporting Wellesley College and listed with the IRS with our own EIN. In 1972, the IRS granted the WCAA a GROUP exemption for all alumnae clubs and classes. Under this group exemption, each club has its own EIN , and every year, we verify and update this list with the IRS. AS non-profit organizations, Small tax-exempt organizations, most of our clubs, whose gross receipts are normally $25,000 or less were not required to file Form 990 or the 990 EZ CHANGES as of 2008 With the enactment of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA) these small tax-exempt organizations will now be required to file electronically Form 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard, with the IRS annually. Exceptions to this requirement include organizations that are included in a group return, private foundations required to file Form 990-PF, and section 509(a)(3) supporting organizations required to file Form 990 or Form 990-EZ. How many mailings is each club doing? What about mail/email mail to those without email and emailing to rest. For Karen speak more about applying for the grant funds and the nice gift from a parent. We just need to plow straight on from here with the group discussion. Most of it will be about dues. Overall we have about 14% of all alumnae paying dues. THIS is not truly valid statistics a rough analysis based on the annual reports - which is about 70% of active clubs. WE have a handout in your packet of all clubs - alumnae/club and the # of dues paying members. This is just a general summary interesting information. Sarasota WC reported the 88% dues paying members. Boston reached a goal of 10% this past year a big goal for this large club.
