Requirements
for Class and Club Web Sites
Alumnae
groups who would like the Alumnae Association to
link to their web pages must follow these guidelines.
- The
home page must clearly identify your group
and its relationship to the Wellesley College
Alumnae Association.
- The
home page must have a disclaimer which states, "The
Wellesley College Alumnae Association and
Wellesley College are not responsible for
the design or content of these web pages.
They are the sole property and responsibility
of the alumnae who host and maintain this
web site."
- Each
page must be linked back to your home page.
- Web
sites should be scheduled for monthly maintenance
to keep information current and to update
links.
- A
webmaster must be identified on each page
along with a contact address or e-mail link
and date of the last update.
- All
content on the web site must reflect positively
on the Alumnae Association, Wellesley College,
and the alumnae group that owns it.
- All
content on the web site must conform to copyright law.
- Your
Wellesley club or class site should be used
for club or class purposes ONLY. Advertising
club and class events and merchandise is
an appropriate use for your site. Using your
club or class site for non-Wellesley business
purposes is inappropriate.
- Affiliates
programs are allowed on Wellesley club and
class sites, but only with the expressed
permission of the officers of the club or
class in question.
-
If
you have any questions about the suitability
of the content on your web site, please
contact the Alumnae Office tech admin at
781-283-2143 or techadmin@alum.wellesley.edu to
discuss it.

Selecting
a Webmaster
- The
webmaster is responsible for creating and
maintaining your web site.
- She
must be familiar with the Internet, have
a good sense of design, and know HTML or
use web-site design software.
- She
needs to be willing to spend a significant
time up front to create your web site.
- She
must be willing to properly maintain and
update your material on a monthly basis.
- She
must be identified on each page along with
contact information.
- The
webmaster is the main contact person for
your web site between the greater alumnae
body and your group, and between your group
and the Alumnae Office. Her phone number(s)
and mailing address, as well as her e-mail
address, must be on file at the Alumnae Office.

Role
of the Alumnae Office
The Wellesley College Alumnae Association
is not responsible for the content published on
club or class web sites, but it does reserve the
right to
remove any links from the Alumnae Association site
to any club or class sites that do not conform
to the requirements listed below. If
you have any questions, please contact the
Alumnae Office tech admin at 781-283-2331 or techadmin@alum.wellesley.edu.
 The
Alumnae Association Site
The
Alumnae Office maintains the Alumnae Association
home page. This includes a list of the office
staff members with phone and e-mail addresses
and a calendar of club and regional events sorted
by the different alumnae clubs around the U.S.
and the world. The alumnae events are posted
from information gathered from newsletters and
invitations to events. Links to class, club,
and regional home pages are added at the discretion
of the Alumnae Association webmaster. Due
to staffing limitations, the Alumnae Office
cannot be responsible for creating or maintaining
web sites beyond those listed above. |
|
Server
Space
The
Alumnae Association can provide up to 10 Mb of
server space to classes and clubs. To access
Alumnae Association server space, contact the
Alumnae Office tech admin at 781-283-2143 or techadmin@alum.wellesley.edu. |

- checking
that all requirements are met
- approving

to class or club sites
|
The

of web pages hosted and maintained by alumnae groups.
The Alumnae Office and the Alumnae Association reserve
the right to deny access or remove any link on the
Alumnae Association web site to web sites maintained
by groups which do not follow the guidelines listed
above.
