The
Applied Arts program regularly runs workshops in
photographic techniques for making slide portfolios
of art work, matting and lighting techniques. Check
the Applied Arts FirstClass Conference for announcements.
These
photographs features people working on the Breathing
Project in
2004. Laura Baring-Gould, a visiting artist, worked
with faculty, staff, and
students to organize this installation, which was
displayed in the Jewett Gallery. This project incorporated
ideas and voices of every constituency on campus.
Participants answered on pieces of paper, the question "What
takes your breath away?" The responses included
a full range of good and bad events in their life
that took their breath away. The project also included
different spaces throughout the gallery, such as
tents that were healing spaces in which participants
may recuperate. All images were taken by Judith
Black.
