Sculpture Court Gallery | Jewett Corridor Gallery
The Art Gallery is devoted to the exhibition of student work and shows generated by the Art Department. Exhibitions by professional artists may also be presented when the work relates to the educational goals and concerns of the Art Department. In addition to these spaces, the studio hallways of Jewett and Pendleton West often present informal displays of studio course work in progress.
Proposals for student-initiated exhibitions are encouraged. An application form is available in the Art Department office, and specific questions should be directed towards Sarah Slavick, Gallery Director or Andrew Warren, Coordinator of Jewett exhibition spaces. Since the gallery schedule is arranged a semester ahead of time, proposals for fall exhibitions should be submitted in the spring semester if possible, or by September 30 at the latest. Requests for exhibition space made later in the academic year will be considered whenever possible. Exhibitions vary in length, generally lasting between two and six weeks. A more extensive statement of guidelines for the student gallery is available in the Art Department office.
Students interested in a career in the studio arts or gallery management gain invaluable hands-on experience while helping to run the student galleries. With this in mind, students are sometimes asked to help organize, publicize, and install the various gallery exhibitions. Please contact Sarah Slavick (x2056) or Andrew Warren (x2025) if you would like to participate in the gallery programming.
