The visual arts have occupied a central place in a Wellesley
education since 1875. Located in the Jewett Art Center and
Pendleton
West, the Studio Art Department includes courses in drawing,
painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography & video, and
digital media.

CLASSES
All drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and some painting courses
are taught in Pendleton West classrooms. The Jewett Art Center houses classes in three main areas of
Studio Art: Photography, Film and Video, and the new Media Arts lab. Faculty offices are located near the classrooms.
SUPPLIES
The PNW Cage stocks many types of paper,
and loans mirrors and clamp-lamps for self-portraiture. The JAC Photo
Cage provides some supplies such as film and paper and media equipment for students
who are currently enrolled in either a Photography, Digital
or Video Classes.Additional
art supplies can be obtained from local
art stores and nation-wide suppliers. Current students
should check the FirstClass Art conference for hours of operation,
or call X3384.
PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
Courses at Wellesley do not accept credit from AP or high school courses. Contact the Art Office x2042 for information on the process of applying to the Intro to Photography classes.
