Especially for First-Years

First-year students are at a time in their lives of great change and excitement. To try to make the transition into college as easy as possible, I am available to meet individually with students. I also assist in developing the multicultural component of the first-year orientation program. After first-year orientation, I sponsor an outing for first-years of Asian descent. In the past, this has involved meeting Asian American faculty, touring Boston on the Duck Tour, and a banquet. This is a valuable opportunity for students to bond with each other and learn more about not only the College, but also the Boston area. I also provide a First-Year Guide, with information on everything from professors, markets, courses, and restaurants. My office also sponsors many first-year students to attend Asian American conferences, most often, first-years receive priority in conference sponsorship. I believe in offering as many opportunities to expand oneself as possible. I encourage first-years to stop by my office anytime, or schedule an appointment.
