Worcester, Mass. – Allison Wing (Brewer, Maine) led three WPI players in double-figures scoring a game-high 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the floor to lead the Engineers past Wellesley 63-57 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference women’s basketball match-up Tuesday at WPI. Wellesley falls to 6-9 overall and 2-5 in league action, dropping its third straight game.

Erin Johnson (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) paced Wellesley with 13 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Laura Weslander (Mendota Heights, Minn.) added 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Sophomore point guard Catie Romasco (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with nine points and five assists, including a 3-for-4 effort from three-point range, in a solid floor effort.

Trailing for the entire game and down by as much as 16 points in the second half, Wellesley tied the score at 50 points a piece when Johnson sank a three-pointer off an assist from Romasco with 7:05 remaining to cap a 20-6 Wellesley run.
