ALLUKIAN LEADS WELLESLEY PAST VASSAR 66-43
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Wellesley first-year
Alex Allukian (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) scored a career-high
18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Wellesley to a 66-43
victory over Vassar College, Saturday in the second round of the
2003 Seven Sisters Basketball Championship at Vassar College.
Making her first start of the season, Allukian also had four steals
and three assists as Wellesley (3-3) held Vassar to just 12 second
half points on 23 percent shooting. Kristin Doeberl (Redding, Conn.)
chipped in with 15 points, while Catherine Romasco (Worcester, Mass.)
added 10 points and five assists. First-year center Sefi Adasi (Rockville,
Md.) added eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds as Wellesley
outrebounded the Brewers 49-29.
Vassar (2-4) was led by Meredith McGair’s (Cranston, R.I.)
14 points and four blocks while Lizzie Evans (Campbell, Calif.)
added ten points and five rebounds.
Wellesley will play Haverford College in the fifth place game Sunday
at 11 a.m.
