HOT-SHOOTING WELLESLEY POWERS PAST HAVERFORD 81-40

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Kristin Doeberl (Redding, Conn.) led four players in double-digits scoring with 23 points and 18 rebounds as Wellesley powered past Haverford 81-40 at the 2003 Seven Sisters Basketball Tournament, Sunday at Vassar College. Wellesley, the winners of two straight, improve to 4-3 overall while Haverford falls to 1-3. Wellesley finished fifth at the eight-team tournament.
 
First-year Alex Allukian (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds helping the Blue to a 71-39 advantage on the glass. Erin Johnson (Westhampton, N.Y.) added 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a solid all-around performance while Laura Jasinski (Amherst, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.  
 
Wellesley connected on 34-of-82 shots for a 41.5 shooting percentage and held Haverford to a dismal 19.4 percent field goal percentage (13-for-67). 
 
Haverford was led by Meredith Foot’s 10 points and Claire Scribner’s eight points and eight rebounds.
 
Wellesley returns to action on January 7 at 7 p.m. at Bates College.
