Wellesley Scores Road Win Over Mount Holyoke
SOUTH HADLEY, MA - Junior Christine Carbonello scored a team-high 19 points as the Wellesley College basketball team defeated Mount Holyoke, 67-42, in a NEWMAC game Saturday afternoon.
Carbonello, who was 7-for-13 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point territory, was one of four Wellesley players in double figures. First-year Erin Johnson scored 12 points off the bench, while juniors Kate Lyren and Kelly Grover scored, 11 and 10, respectively.
Grover paced Wellesley on the boards with six rebounds as it outrebounded Mount Holyoke, 41-29, including a 16-8 edge on the offensive glass.
Jessica Justice led Mount Holyoke with a game-high 22 points on 10-for-15 shooting.
Wellesley travels to cross-town rival Babson Tuesday evening for a 7 p.m. NEWMAC contest with the Beavers.
