WPI Slips Past Wellesley, 67-58
WORCESTER, MA - WPI's Rachel Zimet scored a game-high 21 points and became the 11th player in school history to score 1,000 career points as the Engineers defeated Wellesley, 67-58, Saturday afternoon in a NEWMAC contest.
Junior point guard Kate Lyren paced Wellesley with 17 points on 6-for-15 shooting. Fellow junior Christine Carbonello added 14 in the losing effort. Wellesley struggled on the boards, grabbing just 27 rebounds to WPI's 41.
Wellesley (9-6 overall, 2-2 NEWMAC) plays a non-conference game at Regis Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
