First-Years Pace Wellesley Past Clark, 52-36

WELLESLEY, MA - First-years Erin Johnson and Kristin Doeberl each scored 10 points as the Wellesley College basketball team defeated Clark, 52-36, in a NEWMAC contest Saturday afternoon.

Wellesley, which held Clark to 16 points in the first half, has surrendered just 63 points in its last two games, an average of 31.5 points per contest.

Brianna Freeman scored a game-high 12 points to lead Clark offensively.

Doeberl, who was 5-for-8 from the floor, also managed a game-high 11 rebounds, three of which came on the offensive end. Each team grabbed 38 rebounds, although Clark controlled the offensive glass, 13-10.

Wellesley (11-6 overall, 3-2 NEWMAC) hosts Wheaton Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Clark (11-10, 1-3) hosts Smith the same night, also at 7 p.m.
