Wellesley Opens NEWMAC Play With 54-35 Win Over Coast Guard
WELLESLEY, MA - Junior point guard Kate Lyren scored a game-high 20 points as the Wellesley College basketball team opened NEWMAC play with a 54-35 win over Coast Guard Tuesday evening.
Coast Guard, which shot just 25.5 percent from the field for the game, recieved a team-high 16 points from junior Tessa Mueller. Wellesley shot 36.8 percent from the field and received an additional eight points from senior Jane Gooding, who hit both of her 3-point attempts.
Wellesley (8-4 overall, 1-0 NEWMAC) hosts Springfield Saturday at 2 p.m., while Coast Guard (6-6, 0-1) hosts WPI, also on Saturday, at 1 p.m.
