Wellesley Opens Seven Sisters Championship With 70-31 Victory
SWARTHMORE, PA - Junior Kate Lyren scored 17 points as the Wellesley College basketball team defeated Haverford, 70-31, in the first round of the Seven Sisters Championship Friday at Swarthmore College.
Wellesley (3-1) led 43-11 at the half due in large part to 48 percent shooting from the floor. Wellesley finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field.
Junior Christine Carbonello and first-year Erin Johnson each added 12 points, while junior Kelly Grover scored 11. On the boards, Wellesley held a commanding 43-32 edge, led by Grover's seven rebounds.
