Wellesley Rolls Past Wheaton, 79-36
WELLESLEY, MA - Junior Christine Carbonello led all scorers with a game-high 16 points as the Wellesley College basketball team defeated Wheaton, 79-36, Tuesday evening in a NEWMAC contest.
Carbonello was one of four Wellesley players in double figures as Kristin Doeberl (15), Erin Johnson (14) and Kate Lyren (11) each got into the scoring act. Vanessa Savas paced Wheaton with a team-high 11 points.
Carbonello was 7-for-11 from the field, including 2-for-3 from behind the 3-point arc. Her shooting touch help propel Wellesley to 52.9 percent shooting from the field.
Wellesley, which has surrendered just 99 points in its last three games, outrebounded Wheaton, 37-29.
Wellesley (12-6 overall, 4-2 NEWMAC) travels to Mount Holyoke for a 2 p.m. game Saturday evening, while Wheaton (6-14, 1-5) plays at Clark, also Saturday at 2 p.m.
