E-mail: ccracoli@wellesley.edu WELLESLEY FINISHES THIRD AT ROGER WILLIAMS INVITATIONAL BRISTOL, R.I. – Wellesley sophomore Rachael Blanchard (Scarborough, Maine) finished sixth in a field of 84 competitors to lead Wellesley to a third place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational, Saturday in Bristol, R.I. Blanchard finished the 5,000 meter in a time of 20:12.
Racing without several of its top runner, Wellesley placed third with a team score of 76 behind first-place Coast Guard (32 points) and second place Roger Williams (73 points). Sophomore Christine Grant (Mercer Island, Wash.) placed 12th in a time of 20:46, while first-year Kerry Shanley (Marshfield, Mass.) placed 18th in a time of 21:12.
Wellesley cross country returns to action Friday, October 8 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park, in Boston, Mass.
